*This is just what was pressed on vinyl plus the demo tape and doesn't include CDs*
We had two recordings in a magical place called Blue Tilt (aka Cat Piss Studios) in scenic downtown Hamilton. There's some dispute over exactly what kind of sketch-hole this place was but I remember it as a halfway house rented out by a fucking bizarre dude with a basement studio who would stop everything to show you his pen that they took to outer space and shit like that. Anyway. This was down in the basement, which reeked of bad cat smells. Fortunately, we were never there very long. His rate was $10/hr and we ripped the shit out in less than 4. The first recording became both the tape and the material from the Buzzsaw. The second, shortly after and with Joel on second guitar adding some dirty ENT sleaze to the mix, would go to the split with Ochre. And that was it.
Now, I've always loved making records, and weird or ltd versions of them for like-minded pretentious assholes - but fuck me if I haven't loooong since lost track of the pressing info on these ones or never wrote it down in the first place. But it's pretty much all up HERE on DeadFormat.
"DEMO"
Unknown amount made (however many a few shoeboxes hold). We wrote a lot of obnoxious random shit about our enemies and Ray Cappo jokes on the blank sides of the inserts in Jeff's room while dubbing these one by one. And that goofy lounge-singy outtake of LFD was on this version too.
"HACKED TO PIECES (THE BUZZSAW)"
1st Press: 1100 grey
2nd Press: 1266 pink
3rd Press: 10 colors!
4th Press: 1024 greyish green
5th Press: 322 opaque purple / 314 black
This was a split with LFD and Acrid put out by No Idea. The original plan was a picture disc with blood splatters on the die-cut saw but something production-wise made that impossible, so we went with a grey steel look for the original pressing, with the blood on the insert. There was a subsequent red vinyl pressing, and then every god damned colour of the rainbow after that. No Idea was always up for fun vinyl ideas, this one hit the nail right on the head.
"LFD & OCHRE SPLIT"
1st Press: 800 black / 200 red w/ red logo
2nd Press: 1000 black w/ black logo
Blame Mike Phyte for this split with his band Ochre and us on his label Phyte Records. Man, I kind of miss that about the 90s - using people's zine/band/label as their actual last name. Uh oh - here comes Guav Conviction, he's gonna firestorm that guy in the visor! Yo, it's Scott Bloodlink, on a papier-mache bicycle! That dude owes me money! Etc. Etc. And then there'd be some random dude named Freedom or Razzle or Unicorn for real. Whatever. Just watch your back for XChicksUpFrontPosseX and you should be fine. Anyway, this 7" happened. And that was it for the original shit-ass $10/hr Cat Piss LFD recordings.
"LFD & CHOKEHOLD LIVE LP"
This record arguably didn't need to exist at all, because it sounds like hell on both sides, but our friend Paul Bright who ran a distro/store and played in Shoulder (who went on to form the Constantines) had recorded both these sets from separate shows 2 years apart at Call The Office in London ON, and was hot to trot about putting them on a 12". And so it was. It's a funny artifact for us because this show was a memorable one. Someone had thought that putting LFD and Propagandhi together was a good idea. They were at the height of their silkscreened utopian-themed merch production and we were at our most assholish. Hilarity ensued, and someone got beaned with a metal skull that I thought was plastic until I threw it. Who gave me that and why did you even have a solid metal skull on your person? London, huh? No pressing info available for this one but some questionable alternate covers turned up after the fact. *DF*
"2004 REUNION LIVE LP"
1st Press: 1000 black, 200 clear (screened cover) 100 black (dead face cover), 20 Tests
2nd Press: 100 red
This was a soundboard recording of the reunion show at Moes Tavern, recorded and mixed by Radwan Moumneh (Ire/Cursed) and it sounded better than the original recordings themselves. You can hear fireworks going off somewhere in the pit, that's a bonus. Deranged put this one out, with some limited versions listed above.
"DEVOID OF EVERYTHING" (2013)
The one that kicked this bitch back over. This is the new discography on A389 that coincides with the 2013 reunion at the A389 IX Bash in Baltimore. This gatefold LP comprises all of the above studio recordings (all our songs) but with a new lease on death. Jeff dug up the original 1/4" reels and brought them to Baltimore where they were given a solid remix by him and Kevin Bernsten (Developing Nations) and mastering by James Plotkin and came out sounding sharper and meaner than we even thought was possible.
***
And I know this is a dirty move right as we put out a discography, but we got on a roll and there's gonna be a 7" worth of new songs coming out of all this too. TBA.
